What about the future

In response to, 'What I will be doing in the next five to ten years'.

What I would want to do in the next five to ten years is to have a good job and have done university. I would love to travel the world in 10 years time, maybe go to Europe again. I might even live overseas for a bit maybe in Holland, since my mum comes from over there. I would love to get into Nursing or teaching (Probably a kinder-garden teacher). I haven't really decided between the two yet. But I think if I get a good enter, I will do Nursing. I haven't really made any decisions yet for the future, but I am thinking maybe to take a year off between Year 12 and University. But that's all I have really decided to do in the future.

Perfect?

What might happen if we as a society chose to "perfect" the genetic future of our children?

Of course most people would want to be perfect if they were given the chance.

Well, if everyone chose to be perfect in the future, there will be no individuals. Everyone would be as smart as everyone else. Not everyone could afford to be perfect, it might be too expensive. So that means that not everyone in the world could be perfect.

If you were an invalid, you wouldn't get the jobs that a valid would get, like in Gattaca. The invalids got the cleaning jobs, and when you are a valid you get much better jobs like in the law enforcement (like Anton).

The advantages for the world to be perfect would be there are no diseases in the world, there would be no cancer, and people would live for longer.

There are alot of disadvantages too, including everyone would want the good jobs, so who would want the bad jobs like cleaning if everyone was perfect.
